America's Rail Workers Pushed To The Brink
As you may have heard, America's railroad workers have been pushed near to the breaking point because of a draconian new attendance policy ("Hi Viz") implemented by railroad giant BNSF. Several of our local railroad affiliates, including SMART-TD and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen (BLET), are affected by this harmful policy, which went into effect on February 1.Recently, several outlets have produced articles and videos highlighting the rail workers' struggle. If you'd like to learn more, we strongly recommend reading the article below and watching the two videos. The second video profiles Brother Ron Kaminkow, one of our own local members. We stand in solidarity with our nation's rail workers and fervently oppose the corporate greed that underlies policies like Hi Viz.
