Northern Nevada Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO Celebrates Ratification of Resolution Urging Removal of Cuba from U.S. List of State Sponsors of Terrorism

Reno, NV — The Northern Nevada Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO is pleased to announce the successful ratification of a

urging the removal of Cuba from the U.S. list of state sponsors of terrorism. The resolution, passed on December 13, 2023, underscores the Council's commitment to advocating for justice, international cooperation, and the well-being of the Cuban people.

The resolution highlights the impact of the unjust designation, emphasizing the daily hardships and deprivations faced by the Cuban people due to restrictions on basic necessities like food and medicine. President Biden's authority to rectify this situation through an executive order is underscored, with the Council urging him to take swift action.

Ross Kinson, President of the Northern Nevada Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO, expressed his support for the resolution, stating, "The removal of Cuba from the State Sponsors of Terrorism list is not just a matter of international relations but a humanitarian imperative. The consequences of this unjust designation have inflicted severe hardships on the Cuban people, hindering their access to essential resources and impeding their ability to respond to crises like Hurricane Ian."

Kinson further emphasized the importance of international collaboration and urged Congressional members and President Biden to prioritize the well-being of the Cuban people by swiftly removing Cuba from the list.
